Community Corrections cuts county jail census |

Coldwater, Mich. — The Branch County Jail has not had an overcrowding problem, other than with females, for some time now, and Community Corrections is one of the factors. There were 362 jail bed days saved last year, and many more in the previous two years, based on allocation of funding and sentencing parameters. County Commissioner Rod Olney recently presented the Community Corrections annual report for 2010 to the county board, saying “Our objective is to stop or minimize recidivism, to see if we can make an impact on that.” Recidivism is when an offender repeats.
