County seeks to delay jail expansion |

As Saline County Sheriff Glen Kochanowski waits to hear from his jail consultant about building an addition to the Saline County Jail, Saline County commissioners said Tuesday they want to consider alternatives to delay a jail expansion. Commissioners told Annie Grevas, director of community corrections, to “think outside the box” to come up with ways to reduce the number of people staying in Saline County Jail. “We want to see if there is some other way of taking care of offenders than just locking someone up or locking them up for as long,” Commissioner John Reynolds after the meeting. “I don’t think this is a long-term solution, but it sure will take some of the pressure off.
