Steven D. Robb, who escaped at Montana State Prison on April 19, was arrested by two Department of Corrections probation and parole officers Thursday morning. After receiving a tip, Officers Christie Slaughter and Lee Smith found Robb in a vehicle near an apartment building on the southeast edge of the city. Robb was arrested without incident and is expected to be returned to the prison later today. Robb, 47, escaped from the Work and Re-entry Center outside the prison by driving off in a prison vehicle. He lived at the center and worked on the prison ranch. The blue, flatbed truck was found May 7 hidden in trees on private land south of the prison near Galen. A man identifying himself as Robb called Powell County Sheriff Scott Howard and a Great Falls TV station on May 25, saying he intended to surrender within a few days. His arrest came more than a week after Robb made those comments. In 1998, Robb was sentenced out of Cascade County to 10 years for aggravated assault and 20 years for burglary, with the sentences to run concurrently. He was paroled in February 2005 and had his parole revoked in September 2010 for misdemeanor assault. Robb faces a felony escape charge for fleeing the prison. |
