Gang activity foiled inside MCSO jails |

PHOENIX – Over 60 prison and jail gang members were arrested Tuesday following a multi-agency investigation inside Maricopa County jails. The inmates were indicted for allegedly participating in a criminal street gang, trafficking stolen vehicles and narcotics, identity theft, prison contraband and witness tampering. The probe dubbed “Operation Wolf Pack” began almost two years ago by MCSO’s Jail Intelligence Unit with the assistance of Phoenix police, Department of Public Safety and the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office. “I started this jail intelligence unit back in 1999, yet back then, I never could have imagined how much crime this unit would uncover and ultimately help to prevent,” Sheriff Joe Arpaio said.
