Identifying the factors that shape an institution's culture and attempting to change that culture require the ability to assess the environment, skills in organizational change dynamics, and a foundation in sound correctional management practices. This 3-hour broadcast discussed many of the "lessons learned" from recent NIC work in this area. Topics include an NIC Institutional Culture Assessment protocol and the type of information it provides; examples of strategic planning and response to change a prison's culture; and available assistance to help an institution change its culture.
