Maine State Prison lays off six workers |

WARREN, Maine — The Maine State Prison laid off six workers on June 10. The cuts were in an effort to keep staff levels consistent across all Maine Department of Corrections facilities, officials said Monday. The prison let go of one deputy warden, four captains and one staff development specialist, according to DOC Assistant Commissioner Jody Breton. Breton said the layoffs had nothing to do with the workers’ performance or ability, but that the Maine State Prison must align its staff levels with other state’s prisons of similar sizes.
