DOVER — The Strafford County Sheriff's Office Communications Center was recently recognized for achieving National Accreditation. "We are the only communications center to receives such an accreditation," said Capt. Joseph DiGregorio, of the New York and New England area. On March 26, members of the Sheriff's Office met at a conference in Bethesda, Maryland, to receive their accreditation with the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc. (CALEA). Last fall, the department went through a self-examination process and assessors met with officials to go through rules, regulations and policies. Assessors spent three days examining the layout of the building, interviewing officers and staff, as well as riding with officers to see how they perform. "We hit the ground running," DiGregorio said after returning from the conference in March. "We are working on our reaccreditation now and working feverously to keep our accreditation up." The accreditation lasts for three years before the department must reapply. Read More. |
