The Bellevue Cemetery is getting a facelift with the help of inmate work crews from the Correctional Alternative Center on Marston Street.

The inmates have been working at the cemetery for the past three Saturdays, cutting grass and trimming back weeds.

The crews, supervised by Essex County Deputy Sheriffs, work from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., said Paul Fleming, department spokesman.

Sheriff Frank Cousins Jr., made the work crews available after reading about the cemetery in newspaper stories.
