Repeat sex offender released

A 50-year-old man convicted of two sexual assaults and repeatedly sent back to prison for violating his probation is being released from custody again today.

James D. Turner Jr., 50, will be living in a Department of Corrections halfway house at 1125 N. 14th St., according to a notice from the Sheboygan Police Department.

The notice said Turner’s criminal history “places him in a classification level which reflects the potential to re-offend.”

Turner’s original sexual assaults — involving 14- and 15-year-old girls — occurred 20 or more years ago, but he has been in and out of custody numerous times in the last four years for probation violations.
