LAWRENCE COUNTY, Ill. - Correctional Officer Eric Meier has been selected as Lawrence Correctional Officer of the Year. Meier began his career with Illinois Department of Corrections on Jan. 29, 2001, at Lawrence Correctional Center located near Sumner, Ill. Meier has shown a commitment to Lawrence Correctional Center and his work ethic, appearance and job performance are above average, the award stated. "He has a very positive attitude in all that he does and insists on doing his best complete his assigned task." Eric and his wife Kay Meier are Mt. Carmel residents. Meier is presently assigned to the personal property department. This assignment has a lot of responsibility attached to it and paying attention to detail is very important. Meier is often called upon to fill numerous other posts during the first half of the shift and upon completion of these other duties and assignments, he reports to the personal property office where he is able to direct any additional staff available to him in the passing of personal property, making of contracts and marking of contract items. He has good interpersonal and communication skills to handle inmate issues, resolve problems that arise and has excellent planning and coordinating abilities. Read More. |
