Riverton – Wyoming Honor Farm inmate adult male Christopher Scott Vella has been apprehended. Vella was placed on escape status this morning around 1:15 a.m. after it was determined he was missing from the Wyoming Honor Farm where he was incarcerated. The Wyoming Honor Farm received a tip of a possible siting of Vella on a nearby road from a local citizen who was driving by. Acting on the tip, Captain Ethan Remacle, a correctional officer at the Wyoming Honor Farm, and other Wyoming Department of Corrections staff apprehended Vella without incident at 9:31 a.m. at the intersection of Tunnel Hill Road and Missouri Valley Road in Fremont County. Vella was transported to the Fremont County Detention Center in Lander, Wyo., by Sheriff Deputies Eric Grenlund and Mike Huchenson. He is awaiting a preliminary hearing on escape charges. The Wyoming Honor Farm, a minimum custody facility, is on a modified lock-down. By policy, the Wyoming Department of Corrections is conducting an internal investigation, which is in progress. For additional information or for media inquiries on the apprehension of Vella, please contact: Detective Sgt. Ryan Lee with the Fremont County Sheriff Office at (307) 857-3692. |
