KY man charged with escape attempt |

For the second time in 11 days, a man tried to escape police custody through the ceiling of the building where he was being held. Kirk Lewis was found Friday night hiding in the ceiling above an office area in the Louisville Metro Department of Corrections, 400 S. Sixth St., and when confronted attempted flee, according to an incident report. Several officers pulled him from the ceiling, resulting in one being treated for injuries. Several other officers sustained damage to their uniforms. The ceiling was also damaged. Lewis, of Mitton, Ky., had been arrested earlier Friday on charges of third-degree assault and second-degree criminal mischief, but slipped away while awaiting processing. The jail was locked down and a search begun. He now faces additional charges, including first-degree escape and first-degree criminal mischief. Read More. |
