Atlantic County Prosecutor Ted Housel authorized charges Wednesday, Aug. 3 against a Pleasantville man in connection with the July 14 failed robbery of an off-duty corrections officer. A warrant has been issued for the arrest of Shareed Harris, 20, of 59 N. Main St. Harris and Richard Roe, 20, of Atlantic City attempted to rob Corrections Officer Sean Czerwinski at Hampden Court and East West Jersey Avenue in Pleasantville, Housel said. Czerwinski, 25, a two-year veteran of the Atlantic County Department of Public Safety, allegedly shot Roe. Harris fled on foot and remains a fugitive, according to police who recovered a fully loaded .22-caliber firearm at the scene. Police received a report of shots fired at 8:55 p.m. July 14. Police discovered Roe lying on the street. He was transported to the AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center City Campus, where he was pronounced dead less than an hour later, Housel said.
