Prison locked down for weapons search |

Stony Mountain Institution outside of Winnipeg is locked down as prison officials comb the facility for weapons. Correctional Service of Canada officials said several prison-made weapons were discovered in the past few days so the entire facility is being searched for more weapons and any other contraband. Corrections officers are going cell-to-cell and range-to-range as part of the search. "We've had a number of security incidents over the last couple days and just felt it would be prudent to lock the institution down to search the entire prison looking for any contraband items like weapons, drugs, or any item that could jeopardize the safety and security of the institution," said public relations officer Chris McLaughlan.
