Los Lunas Woman Charged in Inmate’s Death |

A 47-year-old Los Lunas woman has been indicted on a charge of involuntary manslaughter after police said she helped contribute to the death of an inmate last year at the Central New Mexico Correctional Facility in Los Lunas. Department of Corrections spokesman Shannon McReynolds said Sheri L. Stone was charged after she mailed a letter to inmate Joseph Segura that contained Suboxone, a drug know for mitigating the effects of withdrawal from heroin. McReynolds said Stone sent the inmate two watercolor drawings that contained the drug, which Segura ingested while he was housed at the correctional facility. “It was something that he was able to lick off of the paper,” McReynolds said.
