JACKSON, GA. — A probation officer has been killed in a training accident at a prison in Butts County. A Georgia Department of Corrections spokeswoman said the officer was killed Wednesday at the Georgia Diagnostic and Classification Prison’s training facility in Jackson when a weapon discharged accidentally during a training exercise. The officer was identified Thursday afternoon as 24-year-old probation officer Tiffany Bishop. Bishop, who worked in the Rome Probation Office, had been with the department since March.
