Suffolk County Sheriff's Department Releases Summer Edition of "Common Ground"
By Suffolk County Sheriff's Department
Published: 09/07/2011

The Suffolk County Sheriff’s Department recently released the summer edition of its Common Ground newsletter.

Created by Sheriff Andrea J. Cabral, the Common Ground newsletter derives its name from the spirit of partnership within the Department and between the Department and the communities of Suffolk County, educating and informing the general public about the work that members of the Department do within its facilities – the Suffolk County House of Correction, the Nashua Street Jail and the Chelsea Officer Training Academy.

While providing a monthly accounting of the many programs, activities and functions of the Department and the accomplishments of its employees, the Common Ground also highlights the Department’s numerous public health and safety outreach initiatives throughout Suffolk County’s Winthrop, Revere, Chelsea and Boston neighborhoods.

The Summer 2011 issue of Common Ground features article topics that include: Sheriff Cabral’s support of Transgender Rights Bill H.502/S.764; the graduation of 25 new officers from the Department’s Correction Officer Training Academy; law enforcement careers at the Department; public safety training conferences held by the Department in partnership with the Massachusetts Sheriff’s Association; the Department’s ongoing support of the Massachusetts Special Olympics; a visit from law enforcement and education officials from the country of Tajikistan; and more.

Published by the External Affairs Division, the Common Ground newsletter is available in print form for employees and visitors and electronically on the Department’s website: www.scsdma.org. It is also transmitted via the Internet to any organizations or individuals who request it by visiting the Department’s website and submitting an email address through the newsletter sign up box at the top left of the webpage.
