Woman fights back, chases purse snatcher |

Gainesville - FL - Police said a career thief was arrested again early Friday after he snatched a purse from a woman who fought back and a witness chased him until he dropped the purse. The Gainesville Police Department said Howard Bernard Curry, 56, of 2221 NE 12th St., was charged with robbery by sudden snatching and resisting arrest for an incident at 2:45 a.m. at 701 NW 4th Ave. The victim told Officer Amanda Prince that Curry tried to snatch her purse from her right arm. The woman said she punched Curry in the face several times as she tried to pull away from him, but her purse strap broke and he ran off with the purse. The woman and a witness told police they chased Curry until he dropped the purse in the 500 block of Northwest 4th Avenue. Read More. |
