NEWBERRY MI -- A corrections officer at the Newberry prison has been arrested on three felony drug possession charges. Investigators believe he was planning to smuggle a large amount of heroin and tobacco into the Newberry Correctional Facility. The officer, whose name has not been released, is a 17-year veteran of the Michigan Department of Corrections. He was arrested Wednesday afternoon during a traffic stop in Mackinac County following an investigation by prison officials. Read More. |
