ACA re-accredits 4 Florida prisons |

Four Florida prisons -- including Lake Correctional Institution (LCI) in Clermont -- were recently re-accredited by the American Correctional Association (ACA). ACA accreditation standards are the national benchmark for the effective operation of correctional systems throughout the United States. "The citizens of the state of Florida can be extremely proud of this accomplishment and can rest assured that the highest level of public safety is being maintained at these and all of the correctional facilities of the Florida Department of Corrections," department Secretary Ken Tucker said. Some of the areas reviewed during the accreditation process include security, health services, chaplaincy, food services, segregation, mail and visiting. The facilities are reviewed to see how well they are complying with established ACA standards that represent the highest level of correctional practices. Read More. |
