Ciavarella moved to Illinois prison |

Former Luzerne County Judge Mark Ciavarella has been transferred to a medium-security prison in Illinois to serve his 28-year prison sentence on corruption charges. Ciavarella is now housed at the Federal Correctional Institution in Pekin, which is located about 10 miles south of Peoria and 180 miles southwest of Chicago. Ciavarella, 62, was convicted in February of 12 charges related to a scheme prosecutors say he developed with others to profit from two juvenile detention centers the county utilized.
