Inmate hurt after jumping from 2nd level at jail

A jail inmate is recovering at St. Cloud Hospital after he jumped off the second level in a cell area at the Crow Wing County Jail.

The inmate, Larry Richard Hackler Jr., 45, was injured on Sept. 9 after he attempted to jump from a second level onto a corrections officer on the first level, according to a complaint filed in Crow Wing County District Court.

Hackler, who was being booked into the jail on charges of felony imprisonment, felony second-degree assault, felony terroristic threats and gross misdemeanor obstructing justice, now also faces a charge of felony fourth-degree assault of a corrections employee.

Hackler was transported to St. Cloud Hospital, where Monday he was reported in good condition. The nature of Hackler’s injuries weren’t known. The jail cannot release medical information on inmates, Lt. Heath Fosteson, assistant jail administrator said.
