Casper – Wyoming Honor Conservation Camp (WHCC) inmate Derrick Lee Brock has been apprehended. Brock was placed on escape status on Friday, Sept. 23 after it was determined he was missing while on a work detail at the State Fairgrounds in Douglas.

Casper Police, who were working in partnership with Natrona County Sheriff’s and the Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation, informed WHCC leadership around 11 p.m. yesterday that Brock had been apprehended in Casper.

The Casper Police Problem Oriented Response Team (PORT) and Natrona County Sheriff’s Office had developed a probable area from leads and known associates where Brock was hiding or frequenting. Police officers and Sheriff deputies coordinated the apprehension of Brock and he was taken into custody without incident.

”The success of this operation is because of the excellent work and partnership of the staffs at Natrona County Sheriff’s Office, Casper Police Department, DCI and the Wyoming Department of Corrections,” Wyoming Department of Corrections Director Bob Lampert said. “It was their expertise and experience that allowed for this to be resolved effectively without incident.”

Brock was taken to Natrona County Detention Center in Casper and is awaiting a preliminary hearing on escape charges. When he escaped, he was serving a sentence for Larceny. He was sentenced in 2011 to 7 to 10 years.
