A former Glynn County (Ga.) detention officer has been arrested for having sex with a female inmate. William Chancey, 25, was arrested last Tuesday and charged with sexual assault against a person in custody and violating his oath of office, Glynn County Sheriff Wayne Bennett said. Chancey is accused of having consensual sex with a woman on one occasion during the past few weeks. Bennett fired him last Tuesday. Chancey was released after posting bail. He had worked at the Glynn County Detention Center for about four years. Sexual assault against a person in custody is punishable by one to three years in prison. Violation of oath of office is punishable by one to five years in prison. |
