Accused of filing false reports

A former senior probation officer for the state Department of Corrections is scheduled to be in court today to face felony official misconduct and 22 misdemeanor and other felony charges of falsifying documents and reimbursements, according to county Clerk of Court records.

Jonathan Shawn Bullard, 37, of St. Augustine, is accused of reporting that he was making home visits to offenders, and submitting requests for reimbursements for those visits, when he could not have made the visits, according to his termination letter.

“On Dec. 19, 2009, you claimed that you worked two hours and traveled 155 miles visiting offenders,” Fred North, circuit administrator for Daytona Beach, wrote. “For this information to be accurate, you would have to ... travel 77.5 miles per hour at a constant rate, just to cover the 155-mile distance in the two hours and would not have been able to visit 12 offenders.”

North goes on to say that, “Based on this information, you have intentionally fabricated information in the case notes of the offenders, indicating that you conducted home personal visits, when in fact, you had not.”
