State workers assured that new pay plan wouldn't cut vacation time |

WI - Department of Corrections Secretary Gary Hamblin is assuring employees that changes in work rules and pay being contemplated by Gov. Scott Walker's administration do not include cuts in vacation time. In a memo sent to the agency's 10,600 employees Friday, Hamblin tried to quell rumors that the state planned to cut their paid time off under a new compensation plan and changes to the civil service system being crafted by the administration. According to an Oct. 4 email from the Legislative Council, Walker may have the authority to unilaterally change employees' paid time off. Senior staff attorney Jessica Karls-Ruplinger wrote in response to questions raised by Sen. Jessica King, D-Oshkosh, that state law "may allow the Compensation Plan to modify the number of annual leave hours, without a statutory or rule change." Read More. |
