No more free rides on NJ Transit for released inmates. The agency no longer allows its drivers to accept letters and release papers for free transportation. NJ Transit says some jails were giving inmates the wrong information that they could get a ride home. NJ Transit is offering jails and prisons special discounted one-way tickets for one dollar each. About 25 facilities have purchased them, including Essex, Hunterdon, Morris and Monmouth counties. |
