Sex offenders prohibited from Halloween activities |

MADISON — The Wisconsin Department of Corrections is restricting sex offenders from participating in Halloween activities. DOC officials have notified sex offenders who are on probation, parole or extended supervision that they're prohibited from participating in trick-or-treating activities, including displaying Halloween decorations, handing out candy or dressing up in costumes, according to a news release. The DOC website lists 108 registered sex offenders in Manitowoc and 70 in Two Rivers. There are 189 registered sex offenders in Manitowoc County. Of those, 86 are on active community supervision, which means they're on probation, parole or extended supervision, said Lance Wiersma, DOC director of sex offender programs. In several communities, DOC staff will be conducting unscheduled home visits with sex offenders during local trick-or-treating times.
