Officers get training in giving roadside sobriety tests |

A group of police officers and wildlife officials from around the state wrapped up a three-day class Oct. 21 to complete their standardized field sobriety test certification. The eight officers were able to practice the roadside sobriety tests on four legally drunk volunteers at the Central Colorado Regional Airport to help them see how impaired individuals can struggle with the tests. "The best way to have them learn is to have the drinkers come in and present them with real-life situations," said Billy Vidmar, sergeant with the Buena Vista Police Department. While officers trained in one room, learning clues of what signs to look for during a roadside impairment test, four volunteers drank beer and ate pizza in the room across the hall. Read More. |
