Parole officers with the Connecticut Department of Correction, Parole and Community Services Division will be conducting surveillance and unannounced home visits of sex offenders, under their supervision, during Halloween. “As always, we will hold these offenders accountable, and require they abide by the restrictions that we demand of them, to insure the safety of the public,” said Department of Correction Commissioner Leo C. Arnone. A “no contact with minors” restriction has been reinforced with these offenders in advance of the holiday, and will be repeated in the upcoming week during treatment and therapy groups. The Division’s Special Management Unit oversees approximately 250 sex offenders who are on parole or special parole release in communities across the state. These offenders have been directed to keep their outside lights off and refrain from answering the door for trick or treaters. Sex offenders found in violation of the “no contact with minors” restriction will face the potential of being remanded back to incarceration. The surveillance and visits will be conducted by all five of the Division’s regional offices, on a statewide basis. |
