Job shuffling at correctiions department a rocky road |

When you're shuffling and shrinking a department that has more employees than Rancho Cordova has residents, you're going to run into a few snags. Exhibit A: The state Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, which employs more than 63,000 workers, removed from its website two erroneous jobs lists connected to its plan to shift some of its responsibilities to counties. One list detailed jobs slated to be axed at overstaffed facilities. The other list showed positions at understaffed facilities that need to be filled. Employees were supposed to use the lists to help them decide whether to apply for transfer from jeopardized positions to safer ones as the department downsizes.
