Crime victims can keep tabs on perpetrators

TULSA, Okla. — Tulsa County District Attorney Tim Harris rolled out a new feature on his office's website this week for people to stay informed about the non-violent offenders who are being released from jail and prison as part of House Bill 2131.

The D.A.'s website has a bright, red banner at the top of the home page which guides you to links where you can look up the inmates' information.

"So that victims could at least go on the Department of Corrections website, plug in that defendant's name and DOC number and at least give them some peace of mind as to whether they are personally affected by this release," Harris said.

Even more useful for crime victims, Harris says his website also has what's known as the VINE system, which stands for Victim Information and Notification Everyday.
