In reference to the Sept. 23 letter, "$29 an hour for corrections officer?" in the Opinion section written by Diane Klevers: I am responding personally to this letter. Ms. Klevers wrote that the St. Lucie County jail is not a high-level professional, executive job and she wished to know what my duties were. The Sheriff's Department provides a website that clearly describes the job description. My level of education is a high school diploma, a degree in criminal justice, corrections certified, law enforcement certified, detective certified, instructor certified, and a supervisor with the U.S. Army Reserves for the past 28 years with two years left to retirement. She also wanted to know how much time I had in with the Sheriff's Department. It was 15 years, and 6 years with the State Department of Corrections for a total of 21 years. Read More. |
