| Warden's Facility Shout Out From Summit of Mt. Kilimanjaro |
| By Mike Machak, Public Affairs Manager, CCA |
| Published: 11/14/2011 |
Bill Spivey, warden of Corrections Corporation of America's Bay Correctional Facility recently climbed to the top of Mt. Kilimanjaro - for the second time! Repeating his trip from ten years ago, and this time with his wife in tow, he made it to the top where he took this great photo with the Bay Correctional Facility sign.
Far from the warm sandy beaches of his home in Panama City, FL, Warden Spivey completed his climb as part of a trip to Tanzania to visit the elementary school he and his wife founded at the base of Mt. Kilimanjaro. The school concentrates on grades Pre-K to Third and currently has 72 students enrolled. This focus on learning carries over to Warden Spivey's job at Bay Correctional, where he works tirelessly to help the inmates there receive an education - be it a GED or trade certification. |
