Gavin Isaac, 26, of Clement Drive, Woodston, Peterborough, had heroin, cannabis and mobile phones hidden in his clothes when searched by fellow officers at the prison on October 3. The heroin was split into 100 individual wraps while he also had a tennis ball-sized package of cannabis plus two mobile phones, six SIM cards and a set of headphones. The heroin had a prison value of £4,000 while the cannabis could have been sold for £870, the court heard. Isaac, who has no previous convictions, pleaded guilty to two counts of conveying articles into prison at Peterborough Crown Court. He was jailed for a total of five years on Friday. The court heard Isaac had fallen into debt and agreed to take the packages into prison to earn money to pay off his loans. Det Con Clare Lightfoot said: “Drugs and mobile phones are banned from prisons across the country for obvious reasons. “The prison relies on staff keeping security tight to prevent such contraband entering the jail. Isaac abused that trust for his own financial gain. “The sentence should serve as a warning to anyone who considers taking drugs or other forbidden items into prison.” Read More. |
