A van carrying prisoners collided Friday morning with a light rail train in Houston, Texas officials said. Nobody was seriously injured. The Tarrant County van had just picked up three inmates from the Harris County Jail and was on its way to Fort Worth, Tarrant County Sheriff's Department spokesman Terry Grisham said. The accident happened at an intersection in downtown Houston. Metro spokesman Ken Connaughton said both vehicles were traveling southbound when the van made an illegal right turn into the path of the train. Grisham said three inmates and two deputies were transported to a Houston hospital and were in good condition Friday afternoon. At least two people on board the train suffered minor injuries but did not require hospitalization, Connaughton said. |
