A jury found a Story County detention officer not guilty of engaging in sexual misconduct with an inmate. Michael Warnick, Hubbard, was accused of having inappropriate contact with a female inmate in late March, said Story County Sheriff Paul Fitzgerald. He was placed on paid administrative leave after being charged. The woman was an inmate at the Story County Jail, where Warnick had worked for five years and had a salary of $46,000. Warnick had worked night shifts at the jail and had access to all inmates, Fitzgerald said. Sexual misconduct with an offender is an aggravated misdemeanor, punishable by up to 2 years in prison. click here for more of the story. |
