CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, Calif. (KGO) -- Some Contra Costa County child service agencies are going to jail to fill their wish lists this holiday season. For the 16th year, the Marsh Creek Detention Facility has created toys and refurbished bicycles; 175 inmates participated in the project this year, fixing up used bikes to look like new and building wooden toys like doll houses and train sets. It's all part of the adult school program within the jail facility. Both instructors and inmates say they get something out of the program. "Working with these guys is great. It makes me feel great when I'm working, let alone when I get all you guys in here makes me feel really good, everybody shows their appreciation... makes me feel that much bigger," said inmate Johntue Felix Hernandez. “click here for more information” . |
