Jail guard sent to jail for drug-smuggling |

BRENTWOOD — A five-year county corrections officer was sentenced to prison Tuesday for attempting to smuggle what she thought was OxyContin to an inmate in the Rockingham County House of Corrections. Sunni George, 34, of 32 Hunter Drive, Epping, was sentenced by Judge William Delker to two-to-four years in the New Hampshire state prison, said County Attorney James Reams. Prosecutors proved George was having a personal relationship with the inmate and bought the alleged drugs from an informant during a sting arranged by law enforcement. She was charged with felony counts of attempted delivery of articles prohibited, acts prohibited and violating the Controlled Drug Act. “A year later I'm extremely disappointed,” said Stephen Church, Superintendent of the Rockingham County Department of Corrections. “It's embarrassing, but that doesn't stop us. We will prosecute any violation of the uniform and the department and that's what happened here.” Church said his former officer's arrest was the result of a collaboration between his department, the Rockingham County Sheriffs Department, Reams' office and the Drug Enforcement Administration. “It was excellent interagency cooperation,” he said.
