Prisoners Get Premium Cable Channels |

BUFFALO, NY - Some consider cable television a luxury. Some prisoners in New York State not only have televisions in their cells, but they also receive premium cable channels. A prisoner at the Attica Correctional Facility wrote Channel 2 to express his disgust that some of his fellow inmates who are locked up for sex crimes are allowed to watch premium channels that contain pornographic scenes. According to the New York State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision Spokesman Peter Cutler, cable has been in state prisons for thirty years. When it comes to premium channels, "HBO, Showtime, they can get access to those premium channels, but they (prisoners) pay for it," said Cutler. He says the money is taken from a general account fund. The fund generates dollars from money made off of vending machines in the visiting rooms at Attica. Read More. |

it was a very shocking news for me and I believe that immediate actions should be taken. They should not think what will happen if they don't cut the cable cord. They should understand that it gives a wrong image to viewers.
