Lancaster, Calif. (AP) -- Officials say sheriff's detectives are investigating the death of an inmate at a state prison in northern Los Angeles County. Sheriff's Department spokeswoman Deputy Lillian Peck said in a statement that three sheriff's homicide detectives are assisting the California Department of Corrections in its investigation of an inmate who was declared dead at the prison Sunday.
