4 arrested in Cherokee Co. sex offender sweep |

Almost a week after Jorelys Rivera was abducted, sexually assaulted and murdered; Cherokee County authorities took to the streets to make sure all of the area’s registered sex offenders were behaving. Cherokee County sheriff’s deputies and probation officers with the Georgia Department of Corrections fanned out across the county Thursday night to take an accurate head count of registered sex offenders in the area. By the end of the sweep, authorities had located 60 percent of the county’s sex offenders. Four people were taken into custody for violating the terms of their probation by having either drugs or pornography in their possession.
