| Chatham County Fugitive Caught in Florida |

SAVANNAH, GA -- A Chatham County man wanted on multiple drug charges was arrested by the United States Marshals Service Florida Regional Fugitive Task Force in Okeechobee, Florida. 55 year old Michael J. Cheuvront was wanted by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation and the Chatham County Sheriff’s Department on a 2006 indictment warrant for the offenses of Trafficking in Methamphetamine, Possession with Intent Ephedrine/Pseudoephrine/Phen, Possession of Tools for the Commission of a Crime, and Possession of Controlled Substances. An investigation was initiated by the Marshals Task Force in the Savannah and surrounding area to find Cheuvront in 2009. Initial indications were that Cheuvront had possibly gone into South Carolina. The case has been an ongoing investigation since 2009. In the early morning hours of Saturday, December 10, 2011, members of the Florida Regional Task Force set up surveillance on the address provided by the Savannah Task Force. The Florida Task Force members positively identified Cheuvront in the yard of the residence. After a short time Cheuvront and female thought to be his spouse got into a Dodge Durango and left the residence.
