| CO facing drug trafficking charges |

CHARLOTTE COUNTY, FL -- A corrections officer was arrested on drug trafficking charges and is accused of taking bribes to bring contraband into the Charlotte County Correctional Institution. Earlier this month, an official with the Florida State Department of Corrections Inspector General's Office contacted the Collier County Vice and Narcotics Bureau about 32-year-old Corrections Officer Joshua Frierson. The inspector had indicated that it was believed Frierson had made an arrangement with an inmate to bring contraband into the jail. So on December 8, an undercover detective got in touch with Frierson, according to the arrest report. The report states that after speaking, Frierson told the undercover officer that he could help bring contraband into the jail, but he wanted $600 and 10 hydrocodone pills to do so. The undercover officer agreed to the deal. Then on December 16, the arrest report states, Frierson met the undercover officer at 1630 Lake Trafford Road in Immokalee. According to the report, the undercover officer handed Frierson the 10 pills and the $600, which was paid for with Collier County Sheriff's Investigative Funds. Read More. |
