1,000 inmates across Kentucky to be released next Tuesday |

On January third the department of corrections will release 696 inmates back into their communities but many are wondering how successful the mandatory release program is going to be? "It's still unknown what effect it's going to have on our community but the police department is going to be there to enforce the law and offer the necessary support to our community." says Captain James East with the Hazard Police Department. The office of probation and parole will have their hands full as they help these mostly non violent offenders transition by finding them jobs and even homes. While there's growing public concern over the release of these inmates, government officials say it's just as easy to change the program as it was to create it. Read More. |
