Corrections will advertise private prison bids again |

The Arizona Department of Corrections has announced it will reject the remaining four bids to build along with operating prisons for 5,000 medium security inmates. And DOC said once again it will be seeking new proposals from private prison companies. This is the second time Corrections has tossed out bids for the private prison projects in the past two years. A press release from Corrections said the decision was made because state prison inmate growth has dramatically declined during the past year and inmate population only increased by 65 persons. Seeking new proposals will be the third attempt to get additional private prisons built in Arizona, however, the call for bids will be for only new correctional facilities from private companies that will house only 2,000 male inmates, which is 3,000 inmates lower than the two earlier bid calls.
