| Youth prison increases suggested |

The director of Ohio's youth prisons wants to add cells, require more staff training and improve rehabilitation and inmate safety for the inmates. The department head submitted the plan to Governor Bob Taft yesterday. The governor asked for the report after allegations surfaced of illicit sex and other problems at the juvenile sex-offender facility in Circleville. Abuse allegations have also surfaced at the Scioto Juvenile Correctional Facility. There is no cost estimate for the improvements in the report. But a spokeswoman for Youth Services estimates the cost will total tens of millions of dollars. |
