Ten Metro Corrections inmates were arrested for allegedly smoking marijuana and/or using cocaine while in custody in Louisville, Ky., according to investigators. It's reportedly happening under the supervision of officers, and now the head of that department is taking steps to stop it, WLKY NewsChannel 32's Abby Miller reported Monday. George E. DeTella, director of the Metro Department of Corrections, said his office was tipped off to the drug use, which prompted urine tests for the inmates allegedly involved. Inmates Don Starling and Glenn Talbott admitted they snorted cocaine while in custody, Miller reported. Moshawn White and Troy Morris allegedly admitted they smoked pot. Also, Gregory Holt tested positive for marijuana use while in the custody of the Community Corrections Center, and Marcus Gill admitted he smoked pot while on work release. Anthony Marcum admitted he used both drugs while in jail, Miller reported. DeTella said contraband is often caught here at the intake point before a suspect is ever admitted into the jail. He also said July was a good month for stopping drugs from getting in. DeTella said some want the drugs badly enough that they'll fill up balloons with narcotics and swallow them, Miller reported. |
