RIDGEVILLE, S.C. -- A section of a top security prison in Ridgeville was under lockdown after inmates subdued a correctional officer, taking his keys and radio, according to South Carolina corrections officials. Department of Corrections representative Clark Newsom said there was no word of injuries at the Lieber Correctional Institution. He said the officer was subdued by an unknown number of inmates, who fled into parts of the dorm that ultimately were locked down. The officer was then let go and was not injured, Newsom said.
