Inmate allegedly stabs officers with pen |

NY -- An inmate at Five Points Correctional Facility in Romulus allegedly stabbed two correctional officers with a ballpoint pen Tuesday after a thwarted suicide attempt. The inmate, 33-year-old New York City native Carlos Abreu, has been in prison since 1999 for rape, attempted rape and assault. According to a press release from the New York State Correctional Officers Benevolent Association, staff at Five Points found Abreu attempting to commit suicide and took him to the infirmary. There, Abreu feigned unconsciousness until his restraints were removed for an X-ray. He then attacked the officers, allegedly stabbing one twice in the hand and another once in the leg, according to the press release.
